Welcome to Life and Other Good Ideas

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I think I am behind the power-curve when it comes to blogging but as some people say “better late than on-time” or something like that. I started writing this to do a few things: 1. Make a little pocket change; 2. Tell the world how awesome I am; and 3. Tell you all how I got to be so awesome! Well the last two are definitely tongue-in-cheek statements but I think many people who start blogs because they believe they have something to impart to the world and well; so do I.

I hope that as you read this, you’ll get a laugh or two, find some useful information that may help with a problem or two that you have, and may decide to purchase a book or product or two that I recommend. I’ll include links to Amazon.com for each product and I’ll only review products that I use or books that I read.

So what gives? Why does the world need your wise and sage advice? Well, truthfully, it doesn’t and more truthfully, I don’t have any wise and sage advice that didn’t come from someone else. My goal will be to pass on this advice to anyone interested (or bored) enough to read it. Maybe they have a ‘friend’ who needs this advice and they can pass the info to them.

Critically though, about four years ago, I found myself in a very dark place in my life. On a daily basis, I wallowed in self-pity, felt useless and ineffective in almost every aspect of my life, and I truly began to question my purpose on this planet. So I reached out for help and I got it from very unlikely people, places, and things. Slowly, and with lots of help from very patient people, I began to change the way I behaved. Even more slowly, I began to change the choices I made. Eventually but even more slowly, I began to change my attitude about the people, places, and things in my life.

Then, about six months ago, I heard of the podcast “Side-Hustle School” by Chris Guillebeau. This podcast and his book Side Hustle: From Idea to Income in 27 Days truly helped me to start looking at the world differently and helped me change my habits, especially with regards to turning ideas, hobbies, and interests into income. I haven’t read it all yet but I recommend it to anyone who wants to feel more empowered and in charge of their own destiny. This book helps me look at the ordinary people, places, and things in my life differently, like breakfast bars! More on that in my next entry.
